The film is carefully applied directly to the
interior surface of the glass. The first step is to thoroughly clean
the glass and frames. The film has an adhesive already applied at the
factory, protected by a liner, which we remove prior to the
application. There are no odors or chemicals used. A very small amount
of liquid soap is used in the water. This "releases" the
adhesive and allows the Film to be squeegeed to the glass. When
installed properly, there are no bubbles or any distortion. The film is
cut into the window, leaving a very thin, usually less than 1/8th of an
inch margin around the edge. Most of the time this is imperceptible.
Towels and tarps protect the surroundings. Regular drapes
and window treatments are not affected and usually can remain in place.
However, some window treatments need to be removed by the customer
prior to the installation day. Upon completion, the area and
window is restored to original condition.
Our goal is to maintain as much naturalness and
clarity as possible on your windows. If you have high windows,
oftentimes the glare and heat of the sun requires us to install a more
tinted film. However, it is still our goal to apply a film that
provides you with the protection you need, without detracting from the
view. It is more of a hue change in the room rather than a
“dark” appearance. We want you to be 100% satisfied
with our products and service.
Today’s films can last more than twenty
years. Realistically, windows in high traffic areas, such as sliding
doors, or kitchen windows which get splattered with grease, may be
replaced sooner. It is not unusual, however, that even these film
panels will not be replaced for at least ten years.

It is recommended that all sun-facing windows be
treated. If some windows receive less direct sun, we can apply a
lighter film to those windows. All windows transmit UV,
regardless of whether they face direct sun or not. If fading
protection is the primary concern and there are delicate furnishings or
artwork that need protection, then use of film is strongly recommended.
Yes. Independent tests confirm that the use
of film is harmless to dual pane glass.
Madico films can be cleaned with any commonly
available window cleaner, such as Windex. Use of a squeegee or
soft cloth is recommended. The interior surface is specially
treated with an acrylic “hard coat” to protect th
e film and
allows easy cleaning, without fear of scratching. Specific
directions will be given to you upon completion of installation
by Visions.

We service all of the New England area.
There are two basic types of low E glass.
One of these is a conductive coating put on glass as it is being
made. It gives some heat loss reduction, but does little to help
reduce heat gain in a building. The second type is a more complex
system of multiple layers and conductive coatings deposited on glass
after it has been made. This type of low E glass gives heat
rejection of 30%-50% in addition to reducing heat loss. Adding
window film can drastically increase the heat rejection. Also, on
average, low E glass only filters 56% of the damaging UV rays, while
our films have the ability to filter 99%. The combination of low
E glass and window film can be the best overall system.
In most cases, if the plant is already receiving
adequate light, the use of window film will not harm it. New
growth or flowering may be retarded, and for a few days, the plant may
go into a state of shock while it adjusts to the light change. If
a particular plant would normally wilt by the end of a sunny day, it
will actually thrive better with the film installed. There is a
simple test which can be done prior to film installation; that is,
merely move the plant to an area with less sunlight for a few days.
In addition, most nurseries or local agriculture agencies can
advise you whether a particular plant needs to be closer to maximal or
minimal light.
Our professional grade window films are made for
maximum optical clarity. Today’s technology allows window
films to be extremely effective and unnoticeable from the interior
looking out. For a film that will not be obvious from the
exterior, choose from our large selection of films.
Yes. It can be removed.
